4 May – 20 May 2025 | $7995
Sail the North Atlantic Ocean, from the highlands and islands of West Scotland up to Iceland, land of fire and ice. The first leg of this journey will be spent exploring the inner and outer Hebrides visiting bonny towns such as picture-postcard Tobermory, iconic distilleries like Talisker on Skye, and stunning secluded anchorages such as Scavaig, with its resident seals under the Cuillin mountain range.
Then when the weather forecast signals the ideal time to cross, we’ll point Sea Dragon’s bow north towards the arctic. Throughout this 600 nautical mile passage you’ll hone your helming, polish off your sail trim, and enjoy the unique pace of 24/7 life at sea. Dolphins and sea birds are commonplace, but if we’re really lucky we’ll be treated to whales or even the magical northern lights!
After 4 days at sea we’ll make landfall in the Vestmannaeyjar Islands, where we’ll have to squeeze between the breathtaking sheer cliffs and a lava flow from a recent volcanic eruption to reach the harbour. When we’ve roamed the island and hiked the volcano we’ll set off on our last big passage, an overnight 130nm sailing around the SW tip of Iceland and into the Reykjanes peninsula, finally docking up in bustling Reykjavik. From here the hot springs and waterfalls await.
All meals on board Sea Dragon during this trip are delicious and vegetarian, with the addition of fish if we catch any along the way.
This is not a trip for the infirm or physically unfit – you MUST be able to go up and down the companionway and move safely about the boat while in rough conditions, have good balance, and be in good health. Day 2: Boat/safety briefings
We’ll spend the day going through boat/safety briefings, getting well orientated with Sea Dragon.

Sail between the Highlands and Islands of West Scotland, navigating the tidal channels and anchoring beneath epic scenery. As well as visiting Mull and Skye, perhaps we’ll stop by the ‘Small Isles’ of Rum or Eigg or stretch our legs on the white sand beaches of Harris.
Days 9-12: Sail the North Atlantic Ocean
When a weather window opens up we’ll set the sails and head offshore, and there’s no better boat in which to face the open ocean than in Sea Dragon, an expedition yacht built to circumnavigate the globe. These days will see you settle into a rhythm and pace of life entirely unique to long passage making, and will allow the sailing skills you’ve learnt up to now to fully take root.
Day 13: Vestmannaeyjar
Rest up and explore the island. Take a walk up the volcano, and don’t miss the puffins!
