22 June – 8 July 2025 | $7995

Cross the arctic circle by boat and experience a high latitude ocean crossing like no other, from the whale-filled fjords of Iceland to the where the sun never sets in Norway. This journey begins in Akureyri, Iceland’s second city. We’ll spend a few days cruising the north coast becoming familiar with Sea Dragon, both on deck and down below, making sure everyone feels at home before we set off on our ocean crossing. In this time we’ll visit bird-filled islands, keep a sharp eye out for whales, and dock alongside fishing wharves in harbours to seek out the local hot springs.

Having kept an eye on the weather forecast and after a full day alongside in Husavik, we’ll slip lines and follow our compass just north of east towards Norway, almost immediately crossing the Arctic Circle. Here, everyone will become a member of the Order of the Bluenose as Neptune welcomes us into the far North, following the tradition of the sailors of old.

Through this 5-6 day passage we’ll settle into a watch system. This ensures that some of the crew are always navigating, keeping an eye out for fishing vessels and darkening clouds, and adjusting sail trim – whilst others are down below resting in their bunks or cooking up a hearty meal. And finally, we’ll make landfall in Bodo, Norway. From here you could visit Saltstraumen (a local maelstrom), hike Keiservarden for views of both the city and mountains, or grab a midnight cocktail in the sunshine on a rooftop balcony.

All meals on board Sea Dragon during this trip are delicious and vegetarian, with the addition of fish if we catch any along the way.

This is not a trip for the infirm or physically unfit – you MUST be able to go up and down the companionway and move safely about the boat while in rough conditions, have good balance, and be in good health. Please contact us with any health questions or if you answer “YES” to any of the questions on our health questionnaire prior to signing up for the trip!
