19 July – 31 July 2025 | $7995
Witness the beauty of Arctic Norway as we cruise the sheltered waters of the Lofoten Islands, a mountainous archipelago chain just 45nm west of Bodo. This trip is for those who want to spend their days sailing along the awesome Lofoten wall, adjusting sail trim in the variable winds whilst navigating past rocks and trolling for fish. It is also for anyone who loves filling an evening with hiking an irresistible peak, braving the crystal-clear sea for a swim, or basking in the midnight sun and counting the sea eagles that soar by…
Here, it’s hard not to put down the camera: every new view reveals the most amazing scenery. After a day cruising the coast, we’ll sometimes dock alongside in a village full of red rorbu cabins and fish-drying racks such as Reine or Henningsvaer. Other nights we’ll spend peacefully at anchor, content under the epic scenery. We’ll also keep our eyes out for orcas, and go in search of Norse mythology to Trollfjord, a narrow fjord surrounded by glacial mountains and waterfalls.
All meals on board Sea Dragon during this trip are delicious and vegetarian, with the addition of fish if we catch any along the way.
This is not a trip for the infirm or physically unfit – you MUST be able to go up and down the companionway and move safely about the boat while in rough conditions, have good balance, and be in good health. Tentative Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive Bodo, Norway
Arrive at Sea Dragon between 1500-1700.
Day 2: Boat/safety briefings
We’ll spend the day going through boat/safety briefings, getting well orientated with Sea Dragon. By the evening we’ll be anchored at Landegode, an island just off Bodo.
Day 3: Cross the Vestfjord
On a clear day you can already see the Loften wall as we leave the anchorage, and it only gets more impressive the closer we get. Tonight we could visit Vaeroy, one of the southernmost islands of the archipelago.
Days 4-5: Reine
Reine is a place to stay a whole day or two: for a spicy hike up Reinebringen or a ferry across the fjord to beautiful Bunes beach, both with a backpack full of cinnamon buns.
Day 6: Nusfjord
Nusfjord is one of Norway’s oldest and best preserved fishing villages.
Day 7: Henningsvaer
These quaint islands connected by bridges are filled with art galleries, craft shops, and cafes.
Day 8: Lille Molle
This spectacular anchorage at the base of sheer granite cliffs is one of our absolute favourites.
Day 9: Trollfjord
Today we could go seek out the fabled trolls… or at the very least experience this iconic scenery.
Day 10: Skrova
Maybe we’ll troll for fish on our way to the island known as “the Hawaii of Loften.”
Day 11: Kjerringoy
Today we’ll sail back across the Vestfjord to Kjerringoy and it’s historic Trading Post.
Day 12: Bodo
Our final sail brings us back to Bodo.
Day 13: Depart Sea Dragon
Plan to depart the boat by 0900.
