29 August – 12 September 2025 | $6995
Sail on Sea Dragon through the fjords of Norway, beginning in Alesund with its intriguing art nouveau architecture and pretty views from the top of Mount Aksla. We’ll spend the next few days gaining new sailing skills, meandering through the mountains and the islands, picking scenic anchorages and small fishing outposts to spend the night.
Once we’ve found our feet with helming and sail handling, and when the weather forecast opens up a window for our crossing, we’ll leave the fjords behind and set sail on a passage of around 6 days. We’ll get a watch system in place and find ourselves immersed in the routine of life at sea, where everyone of us is a member of crew playing a crucial role. The North Sea can be a demanding sailing ground, especially as we sail further south and find ourselves amongst the sand banks, traffic separation schemes and windfarms. Here you’ll hone your understanding of the COLREGS (rules for avoiding a collision at sea), as well as brushing up on electronic and traditional navigation skills.
Finally we’ll work our way through tides and traffic of the Dover Straits and into the English Channel, ending our journey on a high in the Solent – a centrepoint of the UK sailing scene.
All meals on board Sea Dragon during this trip are delicious and vegetarian, with the addition of fish if we catch any along the way.
This is not a trip for the infirm or physically unfit – you MUST be able to go up and down the companionway and move safely about the boat while in rough conditions, have good balance, and be in good health.
