13 March – 23 March 2026 | $4990

Sailing from Tortola to Dominican Republic via Culebra offers a mix of island-hopping and offshore sailing, making for an exciting Caribbean passage. The journey begins with a short overnight anchorage to get a feel for Sea Dragon, before heading to Culebra on a 40nm passage. Culebra is a great place to rest, refuel, and explore before the longer offshore leg. Ensenada Honda provides a safe anchorage, while Flamenco Beach and nearby coral reefs offer excellent snorkelling and relaxation.

Leaving Culebra, we continue west through the Mona Passage, before making landfall 350nm later in the Dominican Republic. Sailing into the Dominican Republic is not just a physical journey but also a cultural shift, as we transition from the English-speaking Caribbean to a Spanish-speaking country rich in history, music, and cuisine. Whether exploring the colonial charm of the island, relaxing on the pristine beaches, or preparing for further Caribbean adventures, arriving in the Dominican Republic marks the completion of an exciting and memorable offshore passage.

All meals on board Sea Dragon during this trip are delicious and vegetarian, with the addition of fish if we catch any along the way.

Tentative Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive Soper’s Hole Marina
Arrive at Sea Dragon between 1500-1700.

Day 2: Boat/safety briefings
We’ll spend part of the day going through boat/safety briefings, getting well orientated with Sea Dragon.

Day 3: Exploring the BVIs
We’ll take the opportunity to do some exploring within the BVIs to see what incredible beaches and anchorages we’re able to find! Giving us a taste of sailing before heading off to Culebra.

Days 4-5: Setting sail for Culebra
Sailing from one of the smaller BVIs to Culebra is approx a 40-nautical-mile passage that benefits from steady trade winds, making for an enjoyable sail with a mix of open-water navigation and scenic island views along the way. Culebra offers a relaxed atmosphere with excellent snorkelling and stunning beaches like Flamenco Beach.

Days 6-10: Let’s go sailing!
We’ll leave the beauty of Culebra and head onwards to the Dominican Republic. This is an offshore passage of approx. 350nm taking around 3-4 days depending on weather conditions. One of the best parts of the 3-4 day passage is witnessing stunning sunrises and sunsets, with vivid oranges, pinks, and purples painting the sky, casting a golden glow over the turquoise waters, and creating a tranquil atmosphere as we sail north. If we’re lucky, we may spot humpback whales on their annual migration as they make their way south to the warm waters of the Dominican Republic. We’ll arrive in Dominican Republic for a well-earned rest and a chance to explore the local sights and attractions.

Day 11: Departure Sea Dragon
Plan to depart the boat by 0900.
