Aloha everyone,

My name is Gary Dzubilo. I am originally from Virginia (East Coast U.S.) , but am currently based out of Honolulu, Hawai’i. I am a sailor, surfer, fisherman, and all around ocean lover and advocate. I’m currently finishing up my last year at University studying Kinesology & Rehabilitation Science, but want to pursue a career on the water.  I am so thankful and super stoked to be chosen for a deckhand position on SV Sea Dragon for Pangaea Exploration from Ensenada to Hawai’i. Huge mahalo to Eric, Shanley, Captain Anna, & First Mate Maggie.

Since arriving in Ensenada a week ago, the crew has spent some time prepping the boat for the big blue. This has included cleaning, mechanical work, painting, and lots of fish tacos! Our biggest project was working the spinnaker poles. We spent a few days sanding, cleaning, and finally painting them multiple layers of varnish. They look spectacular! Shout out to Maggie for her insane attention detail. Other than that, we have just doing a lot of deep cleaning, and checking all the running systems to make sure everything is running smooth. Green light! I also got tasked with the honorable duty of cleaning the hulls! I got to test my balance by scrubbing the exterior of the boat, while surrounded by a thousand sea lions. The boat is all set and ready for the crew to arrive today! We will be briefing the crew on safety offshore and life onboard Sea Dragon, then spend the evening getting to know each other over some veggie fajitas and guacamole! We hope to set sail at the crack of dawn on Thursday morning.
