The arrival of the new crew on board Sea Dragon, sees eXXpedition Caribbean get underway, for their 8-day island hop through the Caribbean. 8 glorious days of science, sea, stories and sunshine.

Excited conversations, inspiring stories, laughter, happiness, and anticipation filled the air as eleven strong, powerful and inspiring women came together aboard Sea Dragon ready to start an epic week of discovery.

Conversation flowed and getting to understand everyone’s different stories and varied backgrounds that brought them here from around the world was fascinating. Each woman had their own personal story and reasons for joining the adventure, be it environmental and science-based, to learn more sailing or simply self-discovery. To discuss as a group and share our stories was so empowering and inspiring.

A packed program of discovery awaited, and before we knew it we were donning lifejackets, pulling the halyards and preparing to set sail for two days and nights at sea. For many, this will be their first time setting sail, let alone in a watch system, at night and in a team of people they only met the day before. All the women are extremely excited to start our eXXpedition together.

Thought of the day:

Below is an underwater from the sculpture park in Grenada from our photographer on board.

Each figure in this mandala holds the right hand up, in an attitude of receiving, and the left hand down, in an attitude of giving. The whole circle creates a tremendous energy field that takes on the shape of the double dorje, the Tibetan symbol for the thunderbolt. The mandala has a quality like that of the energy field that forms around buddha, where all the individuals taking part in the circle make a unique contribution to create a unified and vital whole. It is like a flower, whose wholeness is even more beautiful than the sum of its parts, at the same time enhancing the beauty of each individual petal.
