Here is a shot of the crew this morning, after our 17 days at sea and all the plastic we collected while underway: fenders, old dock lines, derelict fishing gear, jugs, trays, and more. It was amazing to see the amount of large plastics we could extract from the sea, in contrast to all the micro-plastics being sampled in the trawl. Nothing more shocking than feeling as if you are in the most remote part of the planet, and yet, seeing evidence of our footprint float by every day.
This is a shot from yesterday. With a steady 12 knots of breeze, we were able to fly our beautiful red and white spinnaker. I had the chance to go aloft and snap an aerial view of Sea Dragon, chugging toward the Azores.
