Just when you think our itinerary can’t get any better, we drop a gem like this on you! Explore with us as we take adventure sailing to another level. As always, a friendly reminder that we welcome guests of all skill and experience levels on our expeditions. No previous sailing experience required.
Our journey starts in Southampton where we will set sail to explore a bit of Cornwall. When the weather looks good, we’ll set sail on the longest passage of the trip to the subtropical Portuguese island of Madeira. You’ll have time to take in a bit of Madeira, from gorgeous hiking, riding famous street toboggans in Funchal, or just sitting back and enjoy some down time after a challenging passage. If the weather looks calm enough, our next stop will be the wildlife refuge of Selvagem Grande, which is part of the archipelago of Ilhas Selvagens. The weather will continue to warm as we sail to the Canary Islands, ideally having enough time to make a stop at the island of Tenerife for a couple nights before heading to the final port of the trip, Las Palmas on Gran Canaria.

Calling all adventurers! 📣 Join us this summer as we adventure sail from Iceland to the UK, August 18 - September 8.
This trip is a mixture of coastal and offshore sailing. We’ll take time to anchorage hop the Southwest coast of Iceland, before visiting the Vestmannaeyjar Islands to the South. Whales, dolphins, seabirds, volcanic activity and green hillsides are all a plus here! After getting well acquainted with Sea Dragon, we’ll set sail south to beautiful Cornwall and onwards to Southampton.

Our S/V Sea Dragon is a 72ft (22m), 90,000lb displacement steel hulled sailing vessel built in the UK in 2000.
Formerly known as CB 37, she is 1 of 11 second-generation yachts built for the Global Challenge Race – one of the longest, most demanding ocean voyages ever made with an upwind, west-about 32,000km circumnavigation.
In her new role, the boat provides a superb platform for rugged capability, capacity, and efficiency with a naturally low environmental footprint – perfect for the type of remote sailing expeditions we do in adventure sailing!

📣 Greenland to Iceland Adventure Sailing
Join us this summer July 14th - August 4th as we take an epic journey in the Arctic Circle!
This trip is a combination of offshore and costal sailing, come a seasoned sailor or learn to sail with us on this journey!
This sailing trip begins in Greenland and full of adventure! We’ll start the trip in Ilulissat, where the number of sled dogs rivals the number of people. In addition, you’ll see where the Ilulissat Icefjord (an UNESCO World Heritage Site) spits icebergs out into Disko Bay. We’ll sail south with the midnight sun, anchorage hopping over the next week toward Nuuk (Godthåb), keeping an eye out for sea life and sea ice along the way. Our specific anchorages and villages visited will depend largely on weather. We’ll have a night in Nuuk before setting sail on our offshore passage to Iceland ⛵️
Fun Facts:
- Greenland is actually the world’s biggest island – by area – that is not a continent. The total area of Greenland is 2.16 million square kilometres (836,330 square miles), including other offshore islands. Almost 80 percent of the land mass is covered by an ice cap.
- Since most of Greenland is covered in ice, snow and glaciers, the Arctic nation is mostly white. So how did it get its name “Greenland” when it’s not really green? It actually got its name from Erik The Red, an Icelandic murderer who was exiled to the island. He called it “Greenland” in hopes that the name would attract settlers. But according to scientists, Greenland was actually quite green more than 2.5 million years ago. A new study reveals that ancient dirt was cryogenically frozen for millions of years underneath about 2 miles of ice.
- The majority of the population in Greenland speaks both Greenlandic (mainly Kalaallisut) and Danish.
- Every year, the sun does not set from May 25th to July 25th, and it stays visible throughout the entire day and night.
- Greenland is home to the largest and deepest fjord system in the world 🌎

“At night, we see dolphins again which trigger the bioluminescence by their quick movement and they look like torpedos coming to the ship!
Later on, we must be going through a big school of fish, as there is bioluminescence all over the place.”

We spend the morning hiking Prevost Island, getting a bit lost in the National Preserve and finally reaching a navigation light at the north west of the Island. On the way back, we stop in a wild orchard to collect delicious and ripe apples.”
