2011 Summer North Pacific Gyre

Scientific Adventure !

Take advantage of a rare opportunity to join a research voyage through the North Pacific Gyre July 7 through July 27th, 2011!

Algalita Marine Research Foundation has partnered with Pangaea Explorations in offering you an opportunity to become part of a scientific study expedition. Voyaging from Hawaii to Vancouver, British Columbia, on board the 72′ vessel, Sea Dragon (photo inset), you will participate in studies being conducted on the impact of plastic waste accumulating in our oceans. Not only will you be contributing to science, you will have an “up close and personal” experience with the devastation being cast upon our ocean environment. What better educational tool to bring back with you than having seen it for yourself?

There’s more…….you will share in crew duties , which includes manning the helm, maintaining the vessel, standing watch and galley chores. If you aren’t already a sailor, you will return home with new skills, all of the above adding up to an unforgettable experience!

THERE ARE JUST TEN SLOTS AVAILABLE FOR THIS EXPEDITION.

Cost: $10,000 per person* which includes ocean voyage and meals while on-board theSea Dragon. EARLY BIRD DISCOUNT $1,000 IF SLOT SECURED BY FEBRUARY 28, 2011. Net proceeds will help support AMRF’s scientific research and educational outreach programs.

Person(s) must be at least 13 years old; in good health, able to pull sails and maintain a team spirit.
