Today is the day that I start in earnest to Ban the Bag in my own home town of Lymington, from here other awareness projects and campaigns will sprout.
In Lymington we are very much in touch with nature, with the sea, marshes and beaches to the south and a National Park to the north. I plan to capitalize on this connection with nature and help the town to become a showcase for green living, environmental awareness and sustainability.
Inspired through my work this year with https://www.panexplore.com/ and the team from http://www.5gyres.org/ I am following in the footsteps of my home town in Devon who successfully banned the bag in 2007 http://www.plasticbagfree.com/
Over the coming months I will be working towards starting a local education program, visiting schools, organizing talks, engaging with locals to raise awareness and start campaigns the first of which is to Ban the Bag, plastic consumable supermarket style plastic bags.
